A new game to get people out shooting with their rigs is going on over in the TtV group on Flickr. A scavenger hunt of sorts...

This shot is for the word essence and it speaks to me about the complexity of nature in the most simple example - leaves. It's been a rather interesting Summer here in the Valley of Heart's Delight, with warm weather slapping us around late in the season. With all the flooding going on elsewhere in the world I wonder what our Winter will bring...

It's data back-up time this Labor Day weekend. Copy, copy, copy, copy, copy. Five 1TB drives. A bit obsessed, I am.

My first bike was a Schwinn Stingray. Red. No fenders. Simple banana seat. Black walls. I loved that bike. Rode it everywhere. It was a present from my Mom. Both my sister and I got one.

This bike was at the Wednesday evening gathering of hot rods at Scott and El Camino. I've been stopping there after work as often as possible this Summer. Cars are great, fun to shoot.

A pleasant morning in Redwood City, California. I met a small group of TtV enthusiasts for a stroll a few weeks back. This is one of my faves from that outing.

Hot Rod season starts for me this weekend - the Good Guys All American get together happens out in P-town. I'll be taking a few cameras, including the TtV rig. It's been a while...

I'm hoping to make it to the Salt Flats later this year for Speed Week. I hear it's a lot of fun. Ah, cars... love 'em.

Play. Play. Play. It's fun discovering new ways to make pictures. The good folks that help Wifey & me pay our bills have graciously allowed me to add an iPhone to my toolkit, a giant step towards helping me perform my duties at work.

Garage sale find. Me, I dig looking at other people's junk. The CFO of Morris Enterprises doesn't share my enthusiasm... so when I'm out and about without her, I'll stop if I see a good sized garage sale.

I was headed for OSH last Saturday evening to find an inexpensive caliper. It was starting to get dark. I saw a bunch of people milling around a corner house on the other side of the street while waiting my turn at a four-way stop. A spot to park my truck awaited - I pulled up, jumped out and walked around the driveway, looking at all the cool stuff.

The first thing I picked up was this Japanese folding fan. I started to unfold it when someone bellowed "One buck!" As I looked up, she was walking towards me, telling me how much she loves Japanese fans. I could have haggled, but smiling, I pulled a dollar out of my pocket and handed it to her.

A numerically significant milestone occurs with this image. It's number 1234 in my Through the Viewfinder set on flickr.

I've been shooting TtV for nearly four years now. It's been a lot of fun, there have been ups and downs, surprises, and it's opened some doors for me. I'm still passionate about the medium. I've met many awesome photographers who share that passion. I'm still tweaking and seeking perfection with every shot. I continue to get a kick out of newbies and their discovery of TtV.

I recently designed a much simpler light trap for the KD2. Stealth Contraption. No curves to cut out, all straight lines. If you're interested, a 3MB PDF is available for download.

Much more to come in 2010.
